Apple CEO Tim Cook is in China for at least the third time this year, attending a suppliers' conference as Beijing prepares to host a key meeting of international CEOs. The timing coincides with Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s scheduled gathering with top global business leaders to discuss trade and supply chain matters.
Apple, which relies heavily on China for manufacturing—especially iPhones produced through Foxconn—faces growing concerns over global trade disruptions, particularly amid President-elect Donald Trump’s threats to raise tariffs on Chinese goods. Cook’s visit underscores the importance of China in Apple’s supply chain and market strategy, as the country remains one of its largest markets after the United States.

While Cook’s specific agenda in Beijing remains unclear, he emphasized the critical role of Apple’s Chinese partners, stating, “I value them very highly. We could not do what we do without them.” His remarks were shared by a social media account associated with state broadcaster China Central Television.
Premier Li’s upcoming meeting will likely feature discussions with executives from major companies like Rio Tinto, Corning, and Charoen Pokphand Group, addressing issues related to trade and the global supply chain. Cook's previous visit to China last month highlighted Apple’s ongoing commitment to investing in the country, acknowledging its vital role in the company’s global operations.
Over the weekend, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also visited Hong Kong, where he was awarded an honorary doctorate.
