MetMalaysia Issues Thunderstorm Warning for Seven States

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain affecting seven states until 6 PM on Monday, October 7. The warning highlights the potential for severe weather conditions across various regions, with expected rain intensities surpassing 20mm per hour.

In Sabah, the adverse weather is forecasted to impact several areas, including Tambunan, Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Ranau, Tawau, Sandakan, Telupid, and Beluran. In Sarawak, regions such as Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, and Bintulu are anticipated to experience similar conditions.
For Peninsular Malaysia, the states under warning include Kedah (specifically Sik, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, and Kampar), and Kelantan (Jeli). Additionally, Johor is expected to see thunderstorms in Kluang, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Bahru, while Terengganu may experience heavy rain in Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Marang, and Dungun.
MetMalaysia emphasized the potential for thunderstorms and the possibility of sustained heavy rainfall, advising residents to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
