The Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park has been postponed due to safety concerns caused by Storm Darragh.

An amber weather warning for strong winds was issued for the Merseyside region, with the storm causing disruptions across the UK. After consultations between the two clubs, Merseyside Police, and Liverpool City Council, the decision was made to call off the match.

"While this will disappoint many supporters, the safety of fans, staff, and players remains our top priority," stated Everton. Liverpool echoed this concern, citing risks to safety in the local area.

Originally scheduled for 12:30 GMT, this match was set to be the final league derby between the two teams at Goodison Park before Everton’s move to a new stadium in 2025.

Currently, Liverpool is leading the Premier League, sitting seven points ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal, while Everton remains 15th in the standings, five points clear of relegation.

Meanwhile, Storm Darragh continues to wreak havoc across parts of the UK, with winds reaching speeds of up to 90mph and widespread power outages, particularly in western and southern Wales, where a red weather warning has been issued.
